GGMG Moms recommend:
American Beauty Salon on Geary at 20th Avenue. It's a basic salon - hair, nails, wax - and they do a booming business with basic haircuts. There are always men, kids and some women getting a regular cut. They know kids and are very good with them. Cost is about $15 including lollipop.
John Nick, Hair of the Gods, 324 Fell St., 415-205-8572. He's so gentle with kids and makes the haircut a very special moment. He is a bit pricy, $25 for a haircut, but he is doing a great job so I find it totally worth it!
Kid's Cuts at 85 29th St (at San Jose), 415-643-8582. They're inexpensive, and (depending on your tolerance level) will cut a wailing child's hair reasonably well. Older kids will love the video games. Drop-ins are fine, but an appointment means you don't have to wait. And Mitchell's Ice Cream is across the street!
Panda Room - 415-924-2288 - I generally go to the places recommended already but when I really care, I go up to Town Center in Corte Madera (across the freeway from the Macy's shopping center up there). They always make my boy and girl look great. It's more expensive, but we have a good time in that mall, there's lots of kids stores, food, etc.
Peppermint Cuts (Lillie) at 1772 Lombard (between Octavia and Laguna, 292-6177) is fast and inexpensive.
Snippety Crickets at 3562 Sacramento, 415-441-9363 near Laurel Village is fast, and there's lots of shops around there to visit, too.
Supercuts in Noe Valley, 4031 24th Street (between Castro St & Noe St), (415) 282-5929 . My daughter's haircut came out surprisingly well--she had a very Audrey Hepburn look.
