Postpartum SF mama support group

8-WEEK GROUP for women experiencing postpartum anxiety and/or depression in Pacific Heights. It's a space where moms can speak candidly about their struggles in a supportive environment, learn effective coping strategies, build upon self-care activities, and build their support network. Here moms can feel fully heard and understood and learn they are not alone.

Topics include but are not limited to: building in self-care and self-compassion,  processing your transition to motherhood, managing parent and in-law relationships, and parenting with your partner.

The Afterglow: A postpartum support group for new mothers

In this six-week postpartum support group, new moms with their babies will gather to share their experiences and support one another in their new days of parenting. During this group participants will learn about the “Baby Blues” and the emotional changes that can occur after childbirth. They will practice self-care, relaxation techniques, including yoga, which is clinically proven to reduce stress and increase mom’s wellbeing. They will also discuss the highs and lows of motherhood in a supportive space and connect with other new parents. Facilitated by Melissa Whippo, LCSW & Juli Fraga, Psy.D

This clinic is cutting edge in terms of psychiatric medication and research. For those women receiving medical care through this hospital, this is a great starting point. They do not provide treatment, but they do assess for anxiety and depression and then provide referrals and treatment suggestions.
